What are the job duties?

  • Able to serve clients with different backgrounds, family cultures, and needs
  • Data reporting
  • Aware of the community she serves and able to do some community outreach
  • Creates Birth Plan, Postpartum Plan and Breastfeeding Plan with Client
  • Provides Continuous Labor Support
  • Provides 1 on 1 and group childbirth education for client and family
  • Provides support during pregnancy, labor and/ or postpartum
  • Encourage Breastfeeding and provide some basic peer breastfeeding counseling
  • Assist client in creating a Self Sufficiency Plan
  • Provides sex and reproductive health education
  • Provide contraception education
  • Managing filing system for assigned clients
  • Recording information and notes as needed
  • Updating paperwork, maintaining documents and word processing
  • Creating, maintaining, and entering information into databases
  • Assist with classes for clients and future independent Perinatal Support Persons
  • Attend PSP monthly check in meetings and professional development and assist as needed
  • Attend meetings, conferences, community events and workshops pertaining to BBC, BBC work or maternal – child health as necessary
